Maui Storm
So here on Maui, we got hit pretty hard with some severe weather over the weekend. The low pressure system, dropped over 40” of rain on my house in 5 days. We also had wind gusts over 100 mph in places on island and we hit over 80 at our home. But as the storm calmed down, and we were ready to get outside, and decided to take our kids to the park. They had the notion to grab our boogie boards, usually used in the ocean for catching waves, and use them to slide down the side of the hill that had been drenched by days of heavy rain fall. After watching them go a few times, I decided to join in the fun.
At the end of the day, we are very thankful to get though the storm with little more than inconvenience. For others it was worse than that, and we have been praying for our island, and the recovery that will happen over the next couple weeks. Below our some photos of the Kihei Canoe Club. The paddling club that my family belongs to. The beach you see is usually lined with 20+ boats, but they were moved down the beach in preparation for the storm. Fortunately our Hale wasn’t extensively damaged, but there will need to be a lot of work on our beach before we can bring the boats back to this location.
